1. About these terms
These Terms of Use apply to the website and inquiry pages of Midwest Counseling Associates, Inc. ("we", "us", "our"), and to the calls, texts and emails we send after you contact us. By using our pages or sending an inquiry, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Not for emergencies
3. Not a therapist relationship yet
Using this website, answering our questions or sending an inquiry does not create a therapist and client relationship. Nothing on this website is medical, psychological or clinical advice, or a diagnosis.
A therapist and client relationship begins only after you complete our intake process, including consent paperwork, and attend your first session. Whether therapy with us is right for you is decided with you by our clinical team.
4. Who can use this site
- Our therapists are licensed in Iowa, so we can only provide services, including telehealth, to people located in Iowa during their sessions.
- You must be 18 or older to send an inquiry. A parent or legal guardian may send one on behalf of a child or teen.
- We can't offer every type of care. For example, we don't currently provide eating disorder treatment or psychosis care, and we'll point you toward the right kind of help if we're not the right fit.
5. Information you give us
Please give accurate contact details so we can reach you, and only send an inquiry for yourself, your own child, or someone who has agreed to you contacting us for them. Please don't include health details in your inquiry. Our intake team will ask what they need, privately, by phone. How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
6. Insurance and cost
The intake call is free and you're under no obligation to book. Plans listed on our pages are ones we're currently in network with, but coverage depends on your individual plan. We check your benefits with you before your first session, and coverage is never guaranteed until confirmed by your insurer.
If you book, you'll receive our financial and cancellation policies with your intake paperwork. Those policies govern fees, payments and missed appointments.
7. Calls and emails
By sending an inquiry, you agree that we may call you at the number you gave us, and email you at the address you gave us, about your inquiry and any appointments. We'll try to call at the time you chose. If we miss you, we may try again. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time.
8. Text message terms
If you tick the box to receive texts, you agree to these terms for our text messages.
- Program: Midwest Counseling Associates client messages.
- What we send: messages about your inquiry, scheduling your intake call and appointments, and appointment reminders. We don't send promotional texts.
- How often: message frequency varies with your inquiry and appointments.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
- Stop: reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. We'll send one message confirming you've opted out, and then no more unless you opt in again.
- Help: reply HELP for help, or call us on (563) 341-7276.
- Not required: agreeing to texts is not a condition of receiving any service.
- Carriers: mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Privacy: we never share your mobile number or text consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing. See our Privacy Policy.
If you change or cancel your mobile number, please reply STOP from that number first, or let us know.
9. Our content
The text, images, logos and design of our pages belong to Midwest Counseling Associates or are used with permission. You're welcome to read and share links to our pages, but please don't copy or reuse our content for commercial purposes without our written permission.
10. Other websites
Our pages may link to other websites, such as the 988 Lifeline or your social media ad settings. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or privacy practices.
11. Limits of liability
We work to keep our pages accurate and available, including the details about our offices, therapists, openings and insurance plans. Those details can change, so our pages are provided "as is", and openings are not guaranteed until your appointment is booked.
To the extent the law allows, Midwest Counseling Associates is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of our website. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that can't be limited by law, or our professional obligations to clients.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa and applicable federal law. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Iowa.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. The version on this page when you use our website is the one that applies.
